Sorry for being absent for so long again. I've been busting my tail making new patterns...

I just love this one...I added mini pom pom fringe around the edges, I think they look like tiny snowballs.

Then I finally got the pattern put together for the Bunny Pillow.

And just in time for Valentines Day, a very simple heart pillow.

Our SNOW block of the month wool applique quilt is almost finished, complete patterns are available and I'll be posting that very soon.

Gingerbread Men table mat and other fun things....

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

I can't believe Christmas is right around the corner...it sneaks up on us so fast!

This is what I've been working on lately, my newest pattern. A cute table mat for the holidays. I can just see a plate or bowl full of ginger cookies sitting in the middle.

I used National NonWovens WoolFelt but felted woven wool will work just as well. I used baby rick rack, vintage snaps for buttons and eyes and frayed strips of plaid for the bows. I also found old buttons to embellish them and the super wide rick rack for the border.

This stitched up so quickly and was fun to make.

You can also get a kit from The Wool Basket using the Woolfelt and it includes the rick rack.

I'm taking a few months off from Create & Decorate so that I can spend more time on new patterns for both wool applique and rug hooking patterns for my website which I have neglected so much lately.

Our BOM Snow quilt is nearing an end. There are only a few months left....

Autumn is Here!

It has been way too long since I've posted anything here!!!

We were on vacation then I had a lot of orders and deadlines to catch up with...which is good but it sure put a crunch on doing anything 'blogging'!

I hope you are enjoying this Autumn season...I can't really believe 'snow' is right around the corner!!!

I have a new wool applique pattern ready to go...if you like squirrels. We have black squirrels and they are so fun to watch, they seem to almost fly through the highest branches.

Also, just in time for Halloween I have this little wool applique design using National NonWoven WoolFelt. I have kits all ready to go for this spooky little mat on my website or my Etsy shop.

This little mat was featured in the October issue of Create & Decorate.

"Snow" Block of the Month Quilt

Now that most everyone in the country is hitting the 90 degree mark... The Wool Basket has decided it's time to begin our new Block of the Month Quilt!

After that long cold winter it was hard to look at anything related to snow!
With this heat even I feel like stitching snowmen!

There are 9 blocks in all and an appliqued border. All of the blocks are very easy to stitch.

The quilt will measure about 40" x 40".
We are using hand dyed 100%wool on cotton flannel.

Karen is embellishing her quilt with a few beads and buttons.

Rug Hooking Workshop in Colorado

Well, as usual I am always too intense at workshops and forget to take pictures!!! I always think I have plenty of time but after the workshop is over THEN I realize I didn't take enough pictures....again!

We had a great time with Victoria Ingalls and her husband Tom.

Just a few friendly faces, I won't try to remember names...I'm lucky I got this much.

And as usual I move the camera before it gets a chance to finish snapping the picture....ends up blurry...

It was a wonderful location with a nice patio just outside where we could eat our catered lunches or sit and hook.

I don't even have a picture of my own rug...I haven't looked at it since I packed it away to go home.

But I'll get it out and post it and hopefully someone will send me a few more workshop pictures.

Can't leave out the mountains....Rocky Mountain National Park.

Karen of The Wool Basket took me on a tour of Estes Park and the National Park the day after camp and we had a blast!

Framed Hooked Flowers

The inspiration for this little piece came from some old quilting fabric. The fabric had beautiful cream and rose colored flowers on a blue background that caught my eye. (Of course I changed the rose to gold).

I cut strips of several shades of one color and hooked them as they came. The background was hooked using 2 shades of the blue.
Then I found a fun chippy white frame to finish it off.
This quick and easy project is featured in the June issue of Create & Decorate.

Rabbit Applique Pillow and Hooked Rug

Look what Dawn from The Wool Basket did with my rabbit pattern!!!!

She decided she wanted to make a wool applique pillow....I absolutely love what she came up with!

I think her colors are great. The ball fringe is so cool! And look at that cottontail!
Yes, I will have a wool applique pattern available soon for this pattern and Dawn's pillow will be on the cover.

Karen (owner of The Wool Basket) decided to hook one for the shop.
She choose to make a brown bunny with a light background, grass and pink and blue flowers.

I love them both!

Garden Rabbit just in time for Easter...

It's finished!!

I'm not totally sure that I'm happy with the dark green border but it will have to do. I had limited wool with me and originally it was going to be a lighter green but that did not go well at all.

I did change the green leaves I used from this earlier post, it was a little too dark and blended in with the gold background too much for my taste.

Anyway, he's cute and will make a nice table mat for Easter and spring....if spring ever gets to this part of the country this year!!!!

Now I need to hustle and get this little rug pattern on my website, it's already been selling....

Deer & Pine Trees

This a new little venture for me.

I received a call from Keepsake Quilting asking if I would be interested in having them carry my newest WoolFelt pattern and kits.

No way was I turning that down!!! I have to at least give it a try and see how it goes!!!

The tablemat is 23" across and made using National NonWoven WoolFelt.

I enjoy working with both woven wool and the non woven. Each has it's own unique qualities and I have to say using the WoolFelt certainly makes cutting out the more detailed shapes a whole lot easier than using woven felted wool. This went together much faster than I expected and makes a great centerpiece in the middle of my dining room table.

I set an old crock in the middle and fill it full of pine cones or pine boughs. It would be great cabin decor!

Will we ever see Spring???

It still feels like winter living in Minnesota, while most of the country is starting to feel warmer temperatures, more snow is coming for us.

It helps the cabin fever a little by starting a new hooked rug with colorful wools and a Springtime look.

This is my Garden Rabbit design, originally much larger but after a shop requested a smaller version, I liked this smaller size so well that I drew a pattern for myself and started hooking.

I wanted a gray or white rabbit so I settled on light gray, I thought pink and greens and a warm yellow background would be colorful. I have this darker gold wool I'd like to use up and it seems to be working so far.

I think I'll need to use a slightly lighter green for the stems and leaves, what I have so far may not show up well in that deep gold.

Fall Runner and Proddy Flowers

The latest on the Fall Runner block of the month.

Karen made proddy flowers! I like it! It is so easy to do and you don't need a special proddy tool to to this. I did buy one years ago and all it does is pinch your fingers, no matter how careful you are. A thick shanked hooked will work just fine.

I like how it's coming along.

There is still time to join in, the basket of flowers is in the middle of the rug. There is still the left side to do with 3 mystery blocks remaining.

Bear Lodge Wool Applique Quilt

I'm so happy the pattern is finally finished and ready to sell as a complete pattern!

The picture just does not do the quilt justice. It's beautiful in real life!

The pattern is available on my website and Karen of The Wool Basket has both the pattern and the kits for sale on her website. Kits include hand dyed wool and the flannel.

This is an easy quilt to make with a flannel background that looks like hand dyed wool yet has more stability than a wool background would have.

Now that this quilt is finished it's time to start a new Block of the Month wool applique quilt...

I have a new wool quilt designed and almost ready to go. Karen will again offer kits with the pattern each month. The new quilt with have a snowman theme...I know, we are all getting pretty tired of the snow this winter but this new quilt begins March 1st and will go to September so it will be ready to use next winter. It won't be so bad stitching nice cool colors this summer when it's 80 or 90 degrees outside!

Floral Runner Finished!!!

My Floral Runner is finished!

I'm very pleased with how it turned out. I decided I would see if I could hook an entire rug using only textured wool off the bolt. No hand dyed and no solids.

I started this rug in the fall sitting out on the screened porch looking at the fall colors and that became my inspiration for the colors in the rug. When I pulled from my stash it all just came together. I just happened to have the colors I need. I tend to buy a lot of the warmer tones rather than the cooler colors of blues and grays.

Now that I've hooked this rug I can't wait to design another floral rug, I already have some of the colors set aside.

I tried to post a larger image here but it's the best this set up will allow.

You should be able to click on it and view a larger version.

If anyone would like to purchase this design it is available on my website hand drawn on either Dorr's monk's cloth or Dorr's linen. The finished size is 12 1/2" x 52". It would look great on an old farm table...I wish I had one!

Fall Runner Block of the Month

Our new Block of the Month rug.

Karen from The Wool Basket has started a new BOM rug, it's a design by Cabin Creek. Karen is color planning and hooking one block (or two) a month for 9 months. It's more or less a mystery BOM. She's using mostly hand dyed wool, if not all hand dyed.
This is only half of the rug...the right side. It measures 18" x 48". Pattern is available on monk's or linen. You can join in at any time and if you want info please visit her website here.

I like the fall colors against the deep blue background. I can't wait to see it finished!

More of my Floral Runner.

Below are the greens used in the leaves around the rust flowers. The left side wool is the vein, the leaves are outlined with the check and then filled with the heather green.

The greens in the leaves around the gold flowers. The top wool is the vein, outline is the brown and filled with the green plaid.

The small round flowers....the check was used as the outside of the flower and the stripe was used for the middle.

Floral Runner's Gold Flowers

Here's another look at the my rug and the wools I'm using.
There are 2 flowers like this in the rug and I'm hooking both identical.

The color of my pictures is giving me a hard time so I'm not sure how true this will be but we'll give it a try anyway....we shall see what happens!

The wools used. The orangy wool is the outline of the flower petals, the yellow/gold was used for the petals, the gold is the outline of the flower center (one row) and the brown is the flower center.

The bud on the left is the same wool as the rust flower.

This is the background although I don't think it photographed well. It is black and a very dark green hounds tooth and makes up into a beautiful background.

I have the rug almost finished and I'll post pictures again...soon!

Floral Runner Rug Hooking Design

Where do the days...weeks...go!!! I was going to post this rug a month ago. I can't believe it's almost the middle of December already.

This is one of my designs...Floral Runner. I've been trying to find time to hook it since I first drew it up. (I won't mention how many years that has been!) I thought I'd snap pictures of it as I progress for those of you who are new to rug hooking.

I decided to see if I could hook a rug using only textures, no hand dyed or solid wool in this rug and I love the colors. Everything is a plaid, check or heather.

I was trying to find a brown vein for the leaf. I started with a medium brown and thought it looked fine but as I hooked more it seemed a little flat. I found a darker brown and hooked another vein. You can see the difference here. the darker vein looks far better...the leaf doesn't look 'flat' as it does with the lighter brown. It may be hard to see...I'm hoping it will show up better if you click on the photo to enlarge the image.

A little further along....Using a flash so the color is a bit brighter.

Here is some of the wool used in the flower. The gold on the left is the outline, the rust is the flower petals. I forgot to include the gold line in the petal. The medium brown is the outline of the flower center and the lime green plaid with the pink is the flower center.

I used a dark green and black houndstooth for the background and the narrow gold line is the same gold as the outline of the flower. I will continue the border with the green and black houndstooth.

Aren't the colors pretty! I chose these colors in the fall when the leaves were shades of orange, gold and red. As I was sitting out back in the screened in porch I could look up and see the exact same shades in the trees around me. Now it is all covered in white fluffy stuff!

I love this squirrel, again, no designers name. I would like to hook this pattern if I can find it. I like how she finished it with the braided border.

At the top is Karen's bell pull...sideways. It's beautiful! This photo does not do it justice.
Below it is my Snow design and hooked by Helen. She made a few minor changes in the design.

And my favorite for last...Mama Longhorn hooked by Victoria Ingalls. My picture does not do this justice either, you wouldn't believe how 'real' this looks...just amazing!

Finally, more pictures of Show Me rug camp in Parkville, MO.

We were so busy all the time and I kick myself for not taking more pictures...this is all I have of people! But I do have a few from the rug show and I'll post them next time.

This was where our workshop was and to the right is where we were fed like royalty! The food was the BEST! We laughed that all we did for 5 days was hook and eat!

Judy and her second camp rug. Again I kick myself for not snapping a picture of her beautiful shaded yellow rose. She got so far on that one so she decided to hook my sunflower runner.

I love what she has done so far.

Me on a very bad hair day....no time for fussing with hair! I do have long hair but it's all behind my head. Not sure this picture will stay here....next time I look at my blog I'll probably remove it!

Karen, of course I didn't have her show her rug and it was a beautiful shaded crewel piece.

Victoria during show and tell with a very pretty rug called Terrier at the Gate by Laura Schulze.

This Santa is a gorgeous rug! I think it may have been from a greeting card.

And at the end the teachers got together so we could take their pictures. Kaye is in the purple, she coordinated the camp. Victoria, Kathy, Jenny and Nancy (my teacher) is seated in front.

We really had a great time! I think it was the most fun I've had at a rug workshop!

The next workshop that I'm already signed up for will take place in Colorado next June with Victoria and I'm already counting the days and I know what my pattern will be.

Bear Lodge and Cabins...

Karen's husband just emailed this photo to me of the wall in her wool shop, The Wool Basket in Loveland Colorado. I got such a kick out of what she has done that I just have to show it.

We have only the border wool applique to do on the Bear Lodge Block of the Month Wool Quilt. Two more months and it's finished! But we'll be starting a really 'cool' new wool quilt after the first of the year.

She hung up my 2 wool applique samples and two of my hooked rug samples that she hooked. They all look so good together! Thanks Karen!!!

I still plan to post pictures of rug camp....where do the days go!!!!

Rug Camp, Parkville Missouri

I had way too much fun!

I attended the Show Me Rug Hooking Workshop in Parkville, Missouri last week and this is one of my small rugs from class with Nancy Blood. I have a thing for toads and frogs and when I spotted this in Joan Moshimer's catalog of patterns I just knew I had to hook it.

I knew I needed help with the toad and the toadstools. I think he turned out pretty well...Nancy named him Ambrose T. Toad. All wool is a 3 cut and the toad and toadstool are shaded. The leaves are assorted pieces of spot dye and the background is a dark hand dyed dirt color.

I can't wait to get back to it and finish it. I have 2 more small shaded rugs in a 3 cut that are not as far along as this one, I'll post them another time along with pictures from camp.

Victoria Ingalls was there and her students were hooking gorgeous rugs. Would I like to take a class from her!!! Maybe next year.

Pumpkin Wool Applique

I've been way too busy lately! Between summer vacations, rug camp and filling orders, my poor blog has been neglected. On top of that I got the bright idea to start a new blog called Wild Rose Vintage which has been so much fun. On that blog I've been posting pictures of all sorts of vintage things.

This is my latest design in the Holiday issue of Create & Decorate magazine. Soon kits will be available on my website. I have all of the wool, I just need to make up kits and decide on a price. This is a small piece and easy to whip up in a few hours.

I just came back from a wonderful rug hooking workshop. I was at Show Me in Parkville Missouri with Nancy Blood as my teacher. What a beautiful setting and the food was the best! I had a wonderful time and I have a few pictures and more to write about soon...as soon as I find time to unload my camera!

Garden Flowers Punch Needle Embroidery

The latest issue of Create & Decorate, August, published one of my Punch Needle designs. I used hand dyed embroidery floss by The Gentle Art on this project. I like how the hand dyed floss gives it texture. Then I attached it to a piece of wool and framed it with an old frame I had on hand that fit just right. Kits will be available soon on my website.

Lavender Sachets

My last project that appeared in Create & Decorate magazine. These were simple and fun to make. I fill them with fresh lavender buds and keep them stashed in my closet. The aroma is so pleasant when I open the door, they're pretty to look at. Kits are available on my website for a short time, they make great gifts!

Bear Lodge Wool Applique Quilt

The quilt is coming along! I've been terrible about posting...I can't believe a whole month has gone by already! It's summer....so much to do outside, vacations. Right now while I'm posting this I'm about 50 miles from the Bear Lodge that this quilt is named after.

I'm all ready to add the borders to the quilt. There will be a narrow inner border using the same fabric as the sashing. Then a wider outer border using the main fabric. I'll add wool applique in all 4 corners that will sort of flow around the corners.

Kits are available from Karen at The Wool Basket in Loveland Colorado or on her website. You can name the quilt whatever you like, after your lake cabin or your favorite lodge in the woods or mountains. A nice way to personalize your quilt!

Rug Camp....time to start planning what to hook

It's time to start planning a couple of rugs for rug camp this September. The first idea is a small 12" x 12" design called Peony by Joan Moshimer. The flowers shown here were transplanted from my husband's grandmothers garden years ago. They are the prettiest peonies I've ever seen and the pattern design is so much like these that when I saw it in the catalog I knew I had to hook it.

My teacher will be Nancy Blood and this will be fine shading. I want to duplicate the colors in this peony with a dark green/black antique background. I've chosen 3 small designs of Joan Moshimer's for camp, the second rug is pansies with wild roses and the third rug a toad with toadstools.

Block of the Month Wool Quilt ~ Bear Lodge

This would be a great cabin quilt or a quilt for that special guy in your life!

The Wool Basket of Colorado and Cabin Creek of Minnesota are introducing a new Mystery BOM (Block Of the Month) Wool Quilt. The first 2 blocks are the bear and moose starting with the month of February. I've thrown in a little sneak peek of the middle section of the quilt to give you a better idea of the theme going on. The remaining 3 blocks you see here will be March, April and May. There will be 11 blocks total with appliqued borders. Two of the months will have two blocks, the rest of the months will have just one block. The quilt will measure about 44" x 55". All of the applique is very simple. The appliques are hand dyed 100% wool stitched onto a beautiful flannel by Maywood Fabrics.

Poinsettia Wool Applique Pillow Christmas 365 Magazine

The Spring issue of Christmas 365 is out, this is my latest project in the magazine. There are a lot of fun projects to make in this magazine from Chocolate Truffles and awesome sounding Steamy Dreamy hot chocolate/coffee drink to a painted St. Nick box and wool applique projects.

Kits will be available on my website shortly for this pillow project using all hand dyed wool with a coordinating cotton back and chenille trim. Pattern is available in the magazine so you can use your own wool or WoolFelt or all cotton fabric will work just as well. A super fast and easy pillow for your holiday home. Mystery Block of the Month Hooked Rug

I've been a little lazy at posting the recent blocks for our rug. The flower block above the bluebird was the November block and the basket at the far left is the current January block. We skipped the busy month of December. I think Karen of The Wool Basket in Colorado has done a beautiful job of color planning this rug.

Karen hooked this rug. I have not seen it in real life but she had her anniversary sale a few weekends ago and the rug was on display. Some people had been following it on her website and saw it for the first time in the shop. Several more signed up, it's been a great hit and so much fun. I'm trying to hook it too using her kits but so far I'm only on the bluebird (the second block).

We're beginning a Mystery Wool Quilt Block of the Month February 1st. I've been stitching up a storm getting the blocks all ready. It will be another kit that will be available through Karen at the above link.

Little Snowman Hooked Mat Create & Decorate February 2010

The latest Create & Decorate issue should be out about now, or soon. This is a simple little mat to hook, good for a beginner too. I have kits available on my website. The background is a charcoal grey although it does look a little green here. It's actually darker than this photo. The snowman is a white wool with a little overdying to give it a bit of an aged looked. This photo is not doing it justice.

Christmas 365 Magazine

There is a brand new magazine called Christmas 365. Christmas365 It is a sister magazine to Create & Decorate. The premier issue just came out and one of my designs is featured in this issue. These are my Christmas Treats canning jar lids. You can't see the jars in this photo but they are the little half pint wide mouth canning jars by Kerr. I use them to keep all sorts of little things. The holiday jars hold little peppermint candies. My floral lids, which are in an older post, sit on my sewing room counter full of old buttons and beads so that I can see at a glance what I have. There are more patterns for all seasons including Halloween and Autumn that can be seen on my website Cabin Creek Designs Kits are available for this Christmas design.

Needle Felted Wool Sheep

Punch Needle Doily

Well, I'm not real sure what to call this but it's pretty. I found this on Etsy and couldn't resist buying it. It's old but I don't know how old, it is hand made using a punch needle tool and a nice thread with a sheen to it, not stranded embroidery floss. The lavender flowers have faded on the front. It has a wonderful feel. It measures 12" x 9". If anyone has an info please leave a comment. Please click on image for a close up view.

Wool Acorns

These are felted acorns using hand dyed roving. We have oak trees and tons of acorns so I thought I'd try making a few of these. I just wet felt the roving into an acorn shape and when dry I glue a real acorn top on it. If you want to purchase wool acorns there are many vendors on Etsy that make and sell these. They're kind of fun to set out in a little dish.

Star Christmas Tree Skirt

Featured in Create & Decorate Magazine December 2009. My most recent project in the magazine. This tree skirt is made with National NonWovens WoolFelt. The wool felt has a nice texture but not as costly as 100% wool, although it certainly could be made using all wool fabric. I've blanket stitched the stars and all the edges. A few beads and simple embroidery in the center of each star. Kits are available on my website Cabin Creek

White Pumpkin Pillow Create & Decorate Holiday 2009

This is my latest project in the Holiday 2009 issue of Create & Decorate magazine. I love this pillow! The colors are so warm. (If you like wool applique I have kits available on my website.) The magazine with the pattern in it should be out in stores the middle of September. I'm dying wool today and it's really turning out beautifully. So pretty I can hardly part with the wool! Just way too much fun!

Pansy Hooked Rug finally finished

Well, It's finally finished! After 5 years of sitting in a basket. I'm pretty happy with it now. So glad I tried the dip dye for the leaves. New Block of the Month Hooked Rug

This is a Mystery Block of the Month project by The Wool Basket of Loveland Colorado. This is a 9 month project where you purchase the wool kit each month. The design is by Cabin Creek.

This is the first block, but you will not know what the next block is until August. They are all very do-able within a month. The rug is a floral design with each block having a different flower. With the exception of next month.....but I can't tell you!

You will want to hook this in a #6 cut, I'm doing mine in a #5. But the background can be a #6, #7 or #8 cut.

Pansy Runner Rug in progress

This is a rug that I started at least 5 years ago in a workshop with Jeanne Benjamin. It was my second attempt at shading only this time I wanted to go with a wider cut, #6. I'm very happy with the pansies but the shaded leaves were not good. This is why it's been sitting for so long. Every so often I drag it out, try to fix the leaves, get discouraged and then put it away.

One evening while skimming Jane Olsen's Rug Hooking Bible I noticed most of the leaves in the book were shaded with dip dye. First thing next morning out came the dye pots and from my first attempt came a lovely dip dyed shade of green by combining 2 of Emma Lou's formulas. I started hooking the leaves on the left side as they were the only 4 that had not been hooked yet.

It looked so much better so I started ripping out the others and left only the leaves on the far right pansy and took a photo. They have since been ripped out and new leaves are in place!

A few more days and maybe I'll get this rug finished! If you click on the image you'll get a much better look at the leaves.

I'll post it when the time comes. By the way, the small Red/Pink Rose at the right side was my first attempt at shading....my teacher gave me an A+.

Shaded Iris

I found this a few days ago at a tag sale. It's completely hooked, just needs to be finished. I thought it was a pretty good deal, I only paid $24.00 for it. All of that work into this and what a shame that it's not finished. I'll eventually whip the edges with wool yarn. I have no idea how it was intended to be used but it needs to be finished. If you click on the image you can really get a detailed view. Written on the sides is designed by Pearl McGowan and 1952. It's 18" across.

Crochet Bedspreads

Here are 3 bedspreads that my Grandmother crochet. They are so beautiful and I keep them hidden in a closet so I may as well share them here. They are so old so I'm too careful with them and should really have them out where I can enjoy them. All 3 are large and would fit a double bed. The one on the right was given to my cousin years ago, her mother would wash it in a washing machine and thus pretty well ruined it. It's starting to rot, this happens to be a good part of it. It's beyond repair, my Aunt gave it to me so now I have all 3 of them and they are well taken care of.

Prickly Pear Cactus

This is a little wall quilt I made a several years ago. It's hand appliqued and I did a little bit of hand quilting on it. Not as much as it should have, I was anxious to hang it up. Not my design but unfortunatly I can't remember who's pattern it is. I embroidered cactus stickers on it but they don't show here unless you click on the image to make it larger.

Wyoming Landscape Quilt

Quilt in progress. This is my most recent quilt project. My first attempt at a landscape quilt. This is a view in Wyoming from our driveway looking at the cross road and the backside of the mailboxes. The Big Horn Range in the background.

I took a landscape class with Regina Browne in Arizona. So far this is only tacked down with fusible web and pins but eventually I'll start stitching all the pieces down and quilt it. It still needs a LOT of work as I found a much better fabric for the forground that looks just like grasses and will save a bit of time rather than cutting greens into grass like shapes. I hand painted the sky. Colors look a little off here but it's close enough. I'll TRY to get this finished....someday! Hopefully it'll turn out okay! It's about 39" x 24" and why didn't I start out with a much smaller first time project!!!!

Lone Star

This is one of my first quilts made in about 1978. I tackled a difficult pattern right off the bat! It's machine pieced and hand quilted by me. Back when I hand quilted everything I made. I think I started this quilt first and then started the Postage Stamp Quilt at about the same time. 62" x 62". The colors came from memory of the hills from a trip out to eastern Montana. All the grass, cottonwood trees, dirt and sagebrush.

This is a small wall quilt. 21" x 32" I hand embroidered this and machine pieced. Made in about 1997. Not the best shot but it's winter and I can't get outside for photos. It's about 20 degrees!

It's snowing heavily today. We are suppose to get the heaviest snowfall of the season, possibly 8" or more. It's dark and gloomy and I can't see any further than about 20 feet outside. We even had snow thunder. I'm afraid we're in for a big one! The wild turkeys are really making noise out there. Everytime it thunders, they complain!

Winter Snow Storm

These images are taken out the front door. It's snowing like crazy and the wild turkeys are feeding out of the bird feeder again! The second shot is looking down the driveway. Yes, we have wild turkeys, they come for cracked corn when I call turkey...turkey...turkey. They come right up to me almost within reach and wait for a hand out. Last winter we had more than 60 staying in our woods the entire winter. If I yell at them to get out of the bird feeder they just sass back with a gobble gobble gobble! A lot of fun to watch but it does smell a bit like a barnyard in the spring!

This pattern was in a Quilter's Newsletter magazine approx. 1995. I machine pieced this and it was machine quilted by Bonnie Bosma.

Bonnie quilted all kinds of interesting shapes in the white areas to add more interest that don't show up in this photo.

This is still one of my favorite quilts.

This is a pattern purchased from Barb Carroll of The Woolly Fox. A design by Carol Endres. I hooked this rug at a workshop in Arrow Rock MO with Barb Carroll October 2001. I love this rug. It's actually of 3 of my cats that are no longer here. Smokey is on the left and Luke is on the right. 2 male cats that couldn't behave while outside, looking out the window. I added the small cat to the left of Smokey. That's Gizmo, their mother. She was a very good cat and was allowed outside to play! The pattern is available at http://www.woolleyfox.com/

Dresden Plate Quilt

This is my Dresden Plate quilt. Made in 1992 using Aunt Gracie's fabrics. The dresden plates are hand appliqued, blocks are machine pieced.
Machine quilted last year by my favorite quilter, Bonnie Bosma. (Yes Bonnie, it's still waiting for the binding!)

This is the only remaining quilt that my Grandmother made approximatly in the 1930's. It appears that several flour sack fabrics were used. Machine pieced and hand quilted. This is my Grandmother, Cecelia born on Feb. 7, 1892. Wouldn't she be amazed to see her face here!

Postage Stamp Quilt

I started this quilt after going to my first quilt show. I just had to make a quilt! This is made up of 2,989 squares 1-1/2" x 1-1/2" each. This was made before the rotary cutter was introduced. Each square was traced around a cardboard template and cut out with a scissors, the old fashioned way! Machine pieced, hand quiled.
