Wildwood continued...

Can anyone tell me where the days...weeks...months go!!!
It goes so fast!

I was planning to post this rug more often but life got in the way.
My dad's health went downhill and he passed away at age 98. I left the rug sit for a few months and am just finally getting back to it again.

I'm using the 3 shades of sort of a pinky red for the 2 different style flowers. The gold is the center of the 5 petal flowers. I'm still not too fond of the color I used for the centers of the other red flowers...need to experiment with that and also some of the leaf veins are not quite right.

I had a hard time deciding on what color to make the small flowers (the blue ones). I didn't really want to bring blue into the rug. I liked the pinky reds, the yellow golds, greens and the tan background but several people kept telling me "add blue"!

I did and it's okay...I guess... I'll hook more of it and see how it goes.
Funny thing, I bought a floral fabric to recover a few pieces of furniture in the living room.
When I brought it home, to my surprise, it has the exact same colors on a tan background and it has this shade of blue flowers in it! Guess that pretty much made me realize blue will work!

I'm going to try to keep at it because I just love how it's turning out. This is my favorite rug hooking project so far.

Thanks for stopping!

Wildwood

I started hooking a new design that I've named Wildwood.

This pattern is loaded with flowers and for those of you who get bored with a lot of background...this has very little.

A close up of the first flower...

And a peek at the wools in the yellow-gold flower along with the background wool.
The darkest gold on the right is the gold in the middle of the petals, the palest gold 3rd form the right is the outline of each petal.

I'm hooking on Dorr's primitive natural linen using a #6 cut.
I love hooking on this backing, I've been using monk's cloth but I think I'll be using this backing from now on.

And of course my color planner...she helps me every step of the way!

I'll keep posting pictures of the rug and wool as I go along....thanks for stopping!

(pattern will be available on my website soon)

Daisy Basket Hooked Rug...Finished!!!

It's finished!!!

I like how it turned out.
You can see the wools I used here. The size is 9" x 17".

(The pattern is available for sale on my website)

Now I'm off to draw up the next rug...I'm in the mood to hook colorful flowers...wishing for spring to arrive sooner rather than later!
I'll post it as I go along including the wools I use.

The next rug is a new design I just drew up and it's a bit larger (24" x 36")...I can't wait to get started but first I think I'll need to dye a little wool....maybe I can post a little bit of dying as I go along too.

Thanks for stopping!

Basket of Daisies

I started on a small mat yesterday just for fun.
I wanted to hook something that I could finish in less than a week and I've been in the mood for flowers!

Maybe it's the long dull winter that has me wishing for spring so I've been drawing up new patterns with flowers...one design is a huge dragonfly (with a few flowers).

Here's part of the design and the wool that I have used.

The orange strips are not quite that orange, more of a rust shade.
I used the off white for the flower petals, the green for leaves and a solid and dyed green as stems (not shown here).
The pretty camel is the basket and the dark blue was a hand dyed.
Everything but the background is hooked using a #5 cut so that I can get a little more detail.
The background and border will all be done with a #6 cut.

I haven't quite decided on the border color yet but I'll post it when I'm finished...I hope in a couple of days. Since I took the pictures earlier today, I've finished hooking the flowers, the background around the flowers and the basket.

Thanks for stopping!

Snowflakes, Bunnies and Hearts...

Sorry for being absent for so long again. I've been busting my tail making new patterns...

I just love this one...I added mini pom pom fringe around the edges, I think they look like tiny snowballs.

Then I finally got the pattern put together for the Bunny Pillow.

Sample made by Dawn Martinez...thanks Dawn!

And just in time for Valentines Day, a very simple heart pillow.

Our SNOW block of the month wool applique quilt is almost finished, complete patterns are available and I'll be posting that very soon.

All patterns are available at my website.
