Lone Star

This is one of my first quilts made in about 1978. I tackled a difficult pattern right off the bat! It's machine pieced and hand quilted by me. Back when I hand quilted everything I made. I think I started this quilt first and then started the Postage Stamp Quilt at about the same time. 62" x 62". The colors came from memory of the hills from a trip out to eastern Montana. All the grass, cottonwood trees, dirt and sagebrush.

This is just beautiful! Both my Grandmothers did a lot of quilting. So, I have many heirlooms.

You certainly did find the Montana prairie colors! I love the hand quilting you did. That is so much work!

I took time to read your entire blog today. What a pleasant journey into your quilting life. The postage Stamp Quilt is amazing - all those tiny pieces, gorgeous colors. It would be so much easier now with the rotary cutters and strip-quilting concept.

Was tickled when you mentioned the flour sacks in your Antique Dresden Plate Quilt - I had just talked about flour sacks in my post today. LOL.

Would you happen to be from Cabin Creek, WV? Do you quilt with the Cabin Creek Quilters? Just wondered as I'm from WV...debbie
